To help the youngest patients

The Healthcare Team in Bolesławiec puts great emphasis on continuous training of medical staff. Importantly, doctors, nurses, and paramedics are very willing to participate in the courses offered to them, including those that they choose for themselves. Raising professional qualifications is essential at the current rate of development of medicine.

One of such trainings organized by ZOZ was the EPALS course – advanced resuscitation procedures in children. The program of the course consisted of lectures and practical learning of methods of dealing with cardiac arrest, recognizing the first symptoms of circulatory and respiratory failure. Employees of the Pediatric Ward and the Hospital Emergency Ward also learned to recognize the symptoms of injuries most common in newborns, infants and slightly older children.

The training also included practical learning how to quickly organize a patient’s transport to a hospital ward dedicated to children, preparation of doctors who will take over the child in the hospital, and precise description of the symptoms.

The practical part of the training included demonstrations and exercises on phantoms. The hosts staged various scenarios of critical cases for a small patient. In simulated life-threatening situations, the medical staff practiced resuscitation procedures, such as intravenous access, mechanical ventilation, defibrillation, and intubation. It should be noted that for our qualified medical staff, the training is an opportunity to exchange experiences and calmly verify their skills.
