“Volunteer with a Big Heart”

For the first time in the ten-year history of the competition, the title of “Volunteer with a Big Heart” was awarded. This special award was received by dr Janina Piestrak – Babijczuk for many years of selfless activity for sick children, helping the elderly and volunteer work in a surgical clinic.

The “Volunteer of the Year 2019 of the Bolesławiec Poviat” competition has been settled. A ceremonial gala was held in the Stary Theater (December 5, 2019), during which nominations and awards were presented to individuals, organizations and institutions that selflessly help poor, disabled, lonely and sick people. Awards were given in five categories: adult volunteer, youth volunteer, non-governmental organization, donor and occasional volunteer.

Ms. Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk is a doctor with a first degree specialization in general surgery. She started working in the Health Care Team in 1968, initially as a trainee doctor, then as an assistant. She was known as a conscientious, responsible and friendly worker. She performed her duties diligently, professionally and with commitment

From 2005 to the present performs work as a volunteer in the Surgery Clinic at the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec taking about 250 patients a month.
